The Neurology Video Primer

The Neurology Video Primer is an interactive learning tool in which viewers watch 8-15 minute, content-rich, videos on the basic concepts of neurology and the most common diseases, diagnoses, and treatments available. These videos cover topics needed to master board exams, clerkships, and the basic skills required to be an effective and competent physician. Topics discussed include stroke, epilepsy, headache, neurologic emergencies, demyelinating diseases, neurodegenerative disease, as well as the relevant epidemiology, basic disease mechanisms, diagnostic approaches, and appropriate treatment options that every neurologist should know. Students in medicine, nursing, dentistry, and pharmacy will benefit from gaining a deeper understanding of these core concepts in neurology. In addition, health professionals with more advanced training who want to broaden their knowledge, or even members of the lay public who have an interest in clinical neuroscience, will also enjoy these informative but easy-to-comprehend videos. Tamara B. Kaplan, MD is an Instructor at Harvard Medical School. She is also a neurologist and multiple sclerosis specialist at Brigham and Women's Hospital. Dr. Kaplan obtained her medical degree at the University of Pennsylvania School of Medicine in Philadelphia where she was elected to the Alpha Omega Alpha society. Dr. Kaplan completed her residency at the Harvard joint program with Brigham and Women's Hospital and Massachusetts General Hospital. Upon graduation, she was awarded the Teacher of the Year Award. Dr. Kaplan finished her training with fellowship in MS and Neuroimmunology at the Brigham and Women's Hospital. In addition to her clinical practice, Dr. Kaplan also teaches at Harvard Medical School. Tracey A. Milligan, MD, MS, FAAN is Assistant Professor of Neurology at Harvard Medical School and is Vice Chair of Education for the Department of Neurology at Brigham and Women's Hospital. She directs the Committee of Harvard Neurology Clerkship Directors and is a former Clerkship Director and Program Director. She has been involved in teaching neurology at Harvard Medical School for over 15 years and has taught over 1,000 students how to perform and interpret the neurologic exam. She is an award-winning teacher receiving the Harvard Best Clinical Neurology Instructor Award, The Harold Amos Faculty Diversity Award, The American Academy of Neurology Program Director Award and BWH Distinguish Clinician Award.
