Stephenson was Guardian of Walsingham from 1958 until his death in 1973. These two books are his autobiography, which was first published in 1973, and his biography of Alfred Hope Patten, who was a larger than life figure of the Norfolk Anglo-Catholic tradition. Both are highly entertaining accounts.
