Soft Computing: With Matlab Programming

Beginning with an overview of intelligent soft computing, the book offers exhaustive coverage of artificial neural networks (ANN), discussing in detail ANN tracking in all the three generations of neural networks and their developments. This is followed by detailed chapters discussing fuzzy logic features and applications. The chapter on genetic algorithms then explains various GA operators such as crossover and mutation with suitable examples and illustrations. Finally, swarm intelligent systems are illustrated in detail, also discussing the engineering applications of particle swarm intelligent systems. MATLAB codes have been used throughout the text to illustrate the applications of the concepts discussed.

N.P. Padhy is currently a professor in the Department of Electrical Engineering, Indian Institute of Technology, Roorkee, and a Chair Professor of NEEPCO (North East Electric Power Company). He is a fellow of INAE (2014) and IET (2014), and has also been awarded BOYSCAST fellowship (2005) and Humboldt experienced research fellowship (2009). His research interest is mainly in the area of Soft Computing applications to Power System Engineering. S.P. Simon is currently Assistant Professor, Department of Electrical and Electronics Engineering, National Institute of Technology, Tiruchirappalli. His research focuses on developing intelligent models using soft computing tools in the field of Power System Engineering.
