This book provides a focused description of the major regional and free flaps used in head and neck reconstruction. It functions as a single source of information on options in head and neck reconstruction. The book is divided into two parts, with Part 1 focusing on regional flaps and Part 2 focusing on free flaps. These will be further divided into the type of tissue the regional or free flap would provide. This allows readers to quickly and efficiently review information on these reconstructive options.
Additionally, the book provides operative procedure and steps of the harvest, as well as supplemental photographs and image. Each section will include bullets on Indications, contraindications, tips and pearls, and postoperative care. The book will also include a sections on other topics including vein and nerve grafts as well as techniques to utilize in a vessel depleted neck.

Rod Rezaee, MD, FACS, is the Director of Head and Neck Surgical Oncology and Reconstruction at the University Hospitals Ear, Nose and Throat Institute and Professor of Otolaryngology – Head and Neck Surgery in the Ear, Nose and Throat Institute at Case Western Reserve University School of Medicine. He is the Medical Director of the Surgical Oncology unit at UH Seidman Cancer Center and serves on the NCCN Thyroid Cancer Guidelines Committee as the representative of Case Comprehensive Cancer Center. He also serves on multiple national committees within the American Academy of Otolaryngology-Head and Neck Surgery (AAO-HNS) and the American Head and Neck Society (AHNS), helping to improve the surgical, reconstructive, and non-surgical care of head and neck cancer patients. Dr. Rezaee is a Governing Board Member of the Microvascular Reconstructive Surgery Committee within the AHNS. In addition, he serves as the Head and Neck Surgery Sub-group Leader for AAO-HNS Annual Meeting Planning Committee.
Akina Tamaki, MD, is the Associate Residency Program Director and a head and neck surgeon at the University Hospitals Ear, Nose and Throat Institute and Assistant Professor of Otolaryngology – Head and Neck Surgery in the Ear, Nose and Throat Institute at Case Western Reserve University School of Medicine with fellowship training in head and neck oncology and microvascular reconstructive surgery. Her special interests include head and neck cancer and microvascular reconstruction. He also serves on multiple national committees within the American Academyof Otolaryngology-Head and Neck Surgery and the American Head and Neck Society (AHNS), in improving the surgical and medical care of head and neck cancer patients as well as advancing the head and neck specialty at a national level.
