Trama

Questo volume intende sviluppare le strategie di lettura e comprensione a scopi accademici e di ricerca e costituisce un utile strumento per condurre gli studenti delle varie aree della psicologia a un buon livello di comprensione di testi specialistici in inglese.I 40 testi selezionati coprono una vasta gamma di argomenti (comportamento, sogni, cognizione, stereotipi di genere, autismo, memoria, processi decisionali, auto-percezione, attenzione, motivazione e molti altri) e sono stati tratti da diverse fonti “reali” (articoli o estratti da volumi, riviste accademiche ed anche internet) in modo da fornire un’ampia varietà di temi, lessico e stili (dall’informale e divulgativo a quelli più specialistici) su cui fare esercizio. Le diverse unità di lettura presentano varie attività: studio di parole chiave e dei punti principali del testo, inferenza del contenuto a partire dall’analisi di titoli o immagini, esercizi di reading comprehension a risposta multipla e cloze test, domande aperte, esercizi di compilazione e di scrittura. Ciascuna unità è corredata da una lista di vocaboli con definizioni contestuali in inglese. Sono inoltre fornite le chiavi degli esercizi per consentire l’autovalutazione.

Autore

Maria Micaela Coppola, ricercatrice of English literature at the University of Trento (Italy), received a Master of Arts in Women and Literature at the University of Hull (U.K.), and then completed her PhD in Literary Theory and Comparative Literatures at the University of Trento. Her research areas are women’s writing, feminist theories, and didactics of English. She has been teaching English for specific purposes, didactics of English, and English literature at the University of Trento.
