Autore

Frank Helus, Sc.D., is leading the radiochemistry group and is the person responsible for the production of cyclotron and reactor radionuclides at the Institute of Nuclear Medicine, German Cancer Research Center, Heidelberg. He studied nuclear chemistry and radiochemistry at Prague Charles University and the Technical University of Prague. He received his degree in nuclear chemistry from Technical University of Prague in 1960. After his studies he joined the academic staff at the Department of Nuclear Chemistry at the Technical University of Prague and conducted both theoretical (hot atom chemistry lecture) and practical classes for students. At the same time he made extensive research work in the field of the chemical behavior of the trace products after nuclear reactions. He moved to Italy in 1967, where he worked on the preparation of technetium labeled radiopharmaceuticals for medical use, and in 1969 he joined the Hammersmith Cyclotron Unit M.R.C. research group in London and began working on the production of cyclotron radionuclides. In 1971 he moved to Heidelberg where he is now in charge of the Radiochemical group with specific interests in the production and labeling processes with short-lived positron emitters and non-invasive physiological studies performed through the use of such nuclides., Lelio G. Colombetti, Sc.D., is Professor of Pharmacology at Loyola University Stritch School of Medicine in Maywood, 111. and a member of the Nuclear Medicine Division Staff at Michael Reese Hospital and Medical Center in Chicago, Ill.
