Note Editore

Otorhinolaryngology-head and neck surgery (ORL-HNS) is a surgical subspeciality that affects all age groups and covers a wide range of pathologies and treatments from the commonest of conditions seen in primary care to some of the rarest, requiring tertiary investigation and state of the art treatments. This makes it difficult for those training and working in ORL-HNS and its allied specialities to learn about and keep up to date with all its component parts. The Oxford Textbook of Otolaryngology provides a solution. A comprehensive guide to all aspects of the speciality, the textbook covers all the knowledge that clinicians from all subspecialties of otolaryngology requires to keep abreast of current practice, with a strong emphasis on evidence-based practice. The textbook is divided into sections on Otology and Audiology, Rhinology, Head and Neck Surgery and Paediatric Otolaryngology. These sections are then further divided into two broad sub-sections: the first covering common presenting symptoms and signs, and the second covering specific conditions. The introductory chapters of this book aim to provide insight into emerging aspects of medicine that are essential for the day-to-day practice of otolaryngology before moving on to the more specific areas highlighted. The textbook is the perfect resource to aid an otolaryngology trainee in passing key examinations while also suitable for established specialists to help remain up to date and to meet the necessary requirements for revalidation.
