Trama

This book focuses on the important experimental techniques and modeling approaches, with their technological improvements and recent research advancements in the field of biomechanics. The major aim of this book is to cover all updated aspects of biomechanics and materials science of biological materials and its holistic domains including the history, source, formulations and applications. The emphasis is given on the understanding mechanics of soft and hard tissues. Also, many case studies are incorporated in this book that separates it from other related texts.

Sommario

Overview of materials science of soft and hard biological materials.- Biomechanics of human and animal skin using experimental approach.- Constitutive models and their computation implementation to predict the mechanical behaviour of soft tissues.- In silico modelling of non-Newtonian canalicular fluid flow in lacunar canalicular system of bone tissue- A machine learning approach.- Experimental and modelling approaches to predict the effect of disease on the soft tissue mechanics and material science.- Modelling of poroelastic behaviour of biological materials.- Mechano-biological assessment of tissue engineered biomaterials.- Experimental methods to assess bone quality.- Computational techniques to predict bone fracture risk.- Strain rate dependent mechanical behaviour of bone.- Bone fracture risk prediction in tibia bone.- Computational modelling of mandibular bone implant.

Autore

Dr. Krashn Kr. Dwivedi is working at the Department of Mechanical Engineering and Materials Science in Washington University in St. Louis, USA. He defended his Ph.D. in the biomechanics and material science of soft biological tissues from Indian Institute of Technology Ropar, Rupnagar, Punjab, India. His expertise lies in experimental techniques, modelling approaches, and device development to understand the mechanical and structural behaviour of soft tissues at different length scale. He published eight research articles in reputed peer-reviewed journals and one book chapter and presented research findings in the conference. He is also reviewing many prestigious journals of Elsevier Publications, Nature Publication, and American Society of Mechanical Engineering (ASME) Journals. He received doctoral research fellowship from the Ministry of Human Resource and Development. He also worked as an assistant professor in the Department of Mechanical Engineering, Manipal University Jaipur, Rajasthan, India.

Dr. Piyush Uniyal is working in the biomechanics section of Mechanical Engineering Department at KU Leuven, Belgium. He defended his Ph.D. in the fracture risk assessment of bone tissue from Indian Institute of Technology Ropar, Rupnagar, Punjab, India. His expertise lies in experimental techniques and modelling approaches and to understand the mechanical and structural behaviour of bone at different length scales. He published fifteen research articles in reputed peer-reviewed journals and one book chapter and presented research findings in the conference. He is also reviewing many prestigious journals of Wiley, Springer Nature, Sage Publications, and American Society of Testing and Materials (ASTM). He received doctoral research fellowship from the Ministry of Human Resource and Development.

Prof. (Dr.) Akarsh Verma is currently working as an assistant professor at UPES (University of Petroleum and Energy Studies), India. He obtained Ph.D. in mechanical engineering from the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Roorkee (India), and did his postdoctoral research work at the Brigham Young University (USA) and Osaka University (Japan). He serves the research community by acting as a reviewer for various international journals (Nature, Elsevier, Springer, Sage, Taylor & Francis, Wiley, IOP, etc.) and has reviewed several research articles. In addition, he has published various research articles in high-quality international peer-reviewed journals, many books, and book chapters and also presented many research papers at various international/national conferences.
