Visible Light: The Artist's Complete Manual is a comprehensive guide to the visual manifestations of light, essential for every artist regardless of the medium and yet so scarcely exposed in the existing textbooks. Put shortly, in its two dedicated parts the book thoroughly answers the big questions of “Why things look the way they look?” and “How to make them look better?”. Key Features This is the most complete and least contradictory text on light (the very essence of every visual art) written for the artists at the moment. It applies across all media and techniques, from classical drawing to 3D graphics and photography. Visible Light” is the only book aimed at artists that properly covers the notion of light spectrum and the related color formation

Autore

Being fascinated by computer graphics from the age of 12, started freelancing as a 3D artist and a graphic designer for local television and print industries since the final years of high school. After graduation attended the Novosibirsk State University. Successfully defended the thesis in computer graphics and graduated as the Bachelor of Mathematics in 2003. In 2001 landed a full-time job as a 3D artist / motion designer at the Teleregion TV production studio. Played a major role in developing a broadcast identity for Channel 49 Novosibirsk, which became its trademark for several years. Left the studio in the position of a lead CG artist in 2003 for freelance. Co-founded a video game project “Rust” with Wadim Zabrodin and took on all artistic responsibilities from art direction to assets creation. Was invited and participated in few digital art exhibitions, including the one in Tomsk Art Museum. Has read two courses in 3D graphics: one for high school students, as well as the one organized by the Novosibirsk State Technical University. Moved to St. Petersburg in 2007 to join Lesta Studio – a house well recognized in both video games and film industries. After a period of working for both departments, eventually focused on cinematic projects. Initiated and supported several technological changes within the studio's feature films pipeline. Was hired by a prominent Central-European facility Avion Film as a visual effects supervisor and relocated to Prague in 2009. Continued working on feature films and TV commercials for both local and international markets, as well as conducting on-set supervision for visual effects projects. The list of other clients in portfolio includes Google, Skoda, Renault, Danone, Green Peace, Heineken and Kodak. On the feature film side, out of more than 20 projects overall, it is worth pointing out Giuseppe Tornatore's “Baaria” and “The Best Offer”. Currently continues as a VFX supervisor with the core of Avion team at DPOST Prague (www.dpost.cz), runs 2 blogs (www.theworking-man.org and www.rock-is-dead.info) and keeps regularly writing articles on computer graphics theory for a UK-based magazine 3D World.
