JUERGEN TELLER 7?. BOOK DESIGN: JUERGEN TELLER E DOVILE DRIZYTE

Questo libro d'artista, realizzato dallo stesso Juergen Teller insieme a sua moglie e partner creativa Dovile Drizyte, racconta il progetto più intimo e personale del celebre fotografo: attraverso un excursus sugli ultimi anni del suo percorso umano e artistico, Teller offre al pubblico un diario privato che si apre allo sguardo esterno. Una galleria di fotografie che si concentra sul recente rinnovamento artistico di Teller, che da sette anni e mezzo è arricchito dal sodalizio con Dovile Drizyte, con la quale il fotografo condivide un'intensa ricerca espressiva. «Abbiamo trascorso insieme, io e Dovile, ogni singolo giorno degli ultimi sette anni e mezzo. Ci siamo sposati, abbiamo messo al mondo nostra figlia Iggy, abbiamo lavorato e fatto tutto insieme, in coppia. Ogni mattina preparo il caffè per noi. [...] Ogni mattina mi sveglio con un sorriso sulle labbra, preparo il caffè e inizio a lavorare», scrive Juergen Teller, e in queste pagine si respira la dimensione umana di questi scatti vivi, palpitanti, imperfetti, che sradicano e ribaltano qualsiasi convenzione di genere, forma e sguardo. Il catalogo accompagna la mostra Juergen Teller 7½, curata da Mario Codognato e allestita nei meravigliosi spazi del Palazzo Giardino di Sabbioneta (Mantova): le fotografie di Teller dialogano con la Galleria degli Antichi, tra le più estese d'Italia con la sua lunghezza di oltre 95 metri, e la Sala degli Specchi, grande ambiente affrescato storicamente adibito alle feste di corte.

This artist’s book, created by Juergen Teller himself together with his wife and creative partner Dovile Drizyte, tells the story of the most intimate and personal project of the famous photographer: through an excursus on the last years of his human and artistic journey, Teller offers the public a private diary that opens up to the external gaze. A gallery of photographs that focuses on the recent artistic renewal of Teller, which for seven and a half years has been enriched by the partnership with Dovile Drizyte, with whom the photographer shares an intense expressive research. «We’ve spent every single day of the last seven and a half years together, Dovile and I. We got married, we gave birth to our daughter Iggy, we worked and did everything together, as a couple. Every morning I prepare coffee for us. […] Every morning I wake up with a smile on my face, make coffee and start working», writes Juergen Teller, and in these pages you can breathe the human dimension of these vivid, throbbing, imperfect shots, which uproot and overturn any convention of gender, shape and gaze.

The catalogue accompanies the exhibition Juergen Teller 7 ½, curated by Mario Codognato and set up in the wonderful spaces of the Palazzo Giardino di Sabbioneta (Mantua): Teller’s photographs dialogue with the Galleria degli Antichi, among the most extensive in Italy with its length of over 95 metres, and the Hall of Mirrors, a large frescoed room historically used for court parties.
