"Global Ethics and Environment" explores several ethical issues from a range of perspectives and uses a wide range of case studies. The book focuses on the impact of development in new industrial regions and the ethical relationship between human and non-human nature. The editors also discuss the ethics of the impact of a single event, like the Chernobyl disaster, on the global community.

As global capitalism expands and reaches ever-further corners of the world, practical problems continue to escalate and repercussions become increasingly serious and irreversible. Nicholas Low is an Associate Professor in the Faculty of Architecture, Building and Planning at the University of Melbourne. His book, Justice, Society and Nature (1998, Routledge), won the Harold and Margaret Sprout Award of the International Studies Association (USA) for the best book on ecological politics in 1998.
