Concerned with the performance-related aspects of emotion in sport, the core of this book is the presentation of the editor's "Individual Zones of Optimal Functioning" model as a theoretical and methodological framework. The model attempts to predict individual performance based on emotion states and other individualized criteria. After an overview of theoretical and conceptual foundations to the model, the material covers how basic emotions such as competitive anxiety, anger, and joy relate to performance; emotional responses to physical stress; and injury and exercise related emotions.
