A travel of 15 centuries; tunnel, tunnels, metro stops whizz-ing at high speed, stairs to go up and down, people and peo-ple traveling. I don’t think even the London Underground has such an expanse of time and space; in depth there are truths you will never see on the surface; of course, it takes light in the dark, and we have a very powerful, supernatural light: the Word of God. The theme of the free will, or free will of man, transcends the religious-philosophical sphere, and his analysis has implications for our contemporary life; my interest is that this search in the cosmos of Western and Christian history, may edify the believer, and the layman. Beyond any debate, I preferred to write a text: “Verba vo-lant, scripta manent (the word passes, the writing remains). In this travel in ancient and modern Christianity, we want to take the Bible (Old and New Testament), as a reference, and some interpretations of illustrious Historical figures on the theme we are going to treat; in particular we will try to an-swer the question of what is the path for the salvation of the soul, and how man eventually chooses it. We will observe how some false doctrines have come down to the present day and are taught by some more or less illustrious minis-ters of the Word of God. Already in the first century Ad. C. there were those who announced an alternative truth to the apostolic one, and many will follow in time. In some courses in Christian churches the doctrine of free will is presented as biblical truth; ancient diatribes of Western history came to mind and this is where our travel begins. In dept, as in the subway, each stop well have a name, an era, a conflict. Going up and down, we will continue to our days, at the speed of history. The true light is not always that of the sun, or the lighthouse, but that of truth, of discovery.
