Note Editore

This volume contains papers presented at Symposium 4D, 'New Trends in Polymer Chemistry and Characterization' of the XXII International Materials Research Congress organized by the Sociedad Mexicana de Materiales AC in collaboration with the Materials Research Society (MRS), USA, which was held August 11–15, 2013, in Cancún, Mexico. The symposium was devoted to fundamental and technological applications of polymeric materials, and continued the tradition of providing a forum for scientists from various backgrounds with a common interest in the development and use of polymeric materials to come together and share their findings and expertise.

Sommario

Part I. Polymer Synthesis: 1. Rhodium-catalyzed oxidative polycoupling of phenylpyrazole and internal diynes: a new polymerization route for atom-economical synthesis of poly(pyrazolylnaphthalene)s; 2. Sequence-controlled vinyl polymers by transition metal-catalyzed step-growth and living radical polymerizations; 3. Synthesis of arborescent polymers by 'click' grafting; 4. Novel hyperbranched molecules containing pyrrole units from diacetylene compounds and their electronic properties; 5. Copolymers based on 3-alkylthiophene and thiophene functionalized with pyrene chromophore; 6. Preparation and characterization of epoxy-silica coatings using rhodamine 6G as dye; 7. Radiation-grafting of thermo- and pH-sensitive poly(n-vinylcaprolactam-co-acrylic acid) onto silicone rubber and polypropylene films; 8. Self-crosslinking water base latex with low VOC emission; 9. Nanostructured LB films developed from ferrocenylthioamide and ferrocenylselenoamide compounds; Part II. Biopolymers: 10. Biopolymer hydrogels regenerated from agave tequilana waste for cytocompatable materials; 11. Molecular relaxation in chitosan films in gHz frequency range; 12. Different materials of substrates in the production of chili apple seedlings (Capsicumpubescens R. and P.) grajales ST; 13. Application of glass particles doped by Zn+2 as antimicrobial and atoxic compound in LLDPE and HDPE; Part III. Polymer Characterization: 14. On-line calorimetry in the ethylene coordination polymerization; 15. Friction and wear behavior of a PMMA-SiO2 coating on hardened steel; 16. Enhanced structural behavior of systems polypropylene-carbon nanotubes in acidic medium; 17. Electrical behavior I-V theoretical-experimental OLEDS; 18. Characterizing the dosimetric properties of MEH-PPV using thermoluminescence (TL); 19. Impact of natural and synthetic nanofibres presence in polymeric composites on mechanical properties; Part IV. Rheology in Polymers: 20. Rheological properties of multi-block associative polyelectrolytes obtained by nitroxide-mediated solution polymerization; 21. Rheological properties of associative polyelectrolytes synthesized by solution polymerization.
