Dr. Gamal Dawood, a renowned pathologist with over four decades of experience, is the esteemed author of this atlas. As Professor Emeritus at Al-Azhar Faculty of Medicine, he has made significant contributions to the field of pathology.
Dr. Dawood's career began in 1983 as a pathology tutor at Al-Azhar Faculty of Medicine. He went on to earn his Ph.D. in pathology in 1991 and was promoted to professor in 2005. His expertise has been sought by universities in Libya and Saudi Arabia, where he shared his knowledge and skills.
With a keen interest in dermatopathology, Dr. Dawood has spent years working as a surgical pathologist, collecting and documenting rare and complex cases for this atlas. His extensive experience and deep understanding of the field are evident in the quality and comprehensiveness of his work.
Leading the Pathology Department at Al-Azhar Faculty of Medicine for five years (2013-2018), Dr. Dawood has played a pivotal role in shaping the department's direction. He is also the founder and chairman of the Egyptian Society of Dermatopathology (ESDP), demonstrating his commitment to advancing the field.
Recognizing his outstanding contributions, Dr. Dawood was recently included in the prestigious annual Power List of (The Pathologist) of 2024. His expertise and dedication make him a leading authority in the pathology field.
