This publication allows architects to become familiar with the type of constantly changing, urban conditions that architecture has commonly avoided. It will become a resource for a new generation of designers, young professionals, students and academics who want to engage with the city on its own grounds, to abet its potentials and seek opportunities in its existing condition. It will provide exposure to innovative design practices from around the world, such as Atelier Bow-Wow (Japan), Jürgen Mayer (Germany), Normal Architecture Office/NAO (US), Adriaan Geuze and West 8 (The Netherlands) and UNStudio (The Netherlands) and highlight groundbreaking urban and architectural thinking from the likes of Keller Easterling, Jiang Jun, Albert Pope, Michelle Provoost, Robert Somol and Anthony Vidler. City Catalyst demonstrates how todays architecture is redefining its position within the city.
