STOCHASTIC DYNAMICS OF STRUCTURES

Stochastic Dynamics of Structures presents a unified view of the theory and techniques for stochastic dynamics analysis, prediction of reliability, and system control of structures within the innovative theoretical framework of physical stochastic systems. Li and Chen first outline the basic concepts of random variable, stochastic processes and random field, and orthogonal expansion of random functions. The authors then elaborate on other core concepts, such as stochastic process models for typical dynamic excitations of structures as well as response analysis of deterministic structures subjected to stochastic dynamic excitations. The later chapters cover more advanced topics, including probability density evolution analysis of stochastic dynamical systems, reliability-based design and performance control of structures, and classical dynamic control of structures.
